Decentralized Choreography Workshops (DCW)
is a platform dedicated to sharing Emanuel Gat’s choreographic practice, offering a wide range of creative tools and the underling philosophy powering his unique approach to choreography making.
WHAT IS DCW?
Initiated by choreographer Emanuel Gat, DCW is an open and mobile project that reimagines how choreographic knowledge can be developed and shared. Through short, intensive workshop modules developed by Emanuel Gat and facilitated by a small group of his long term collaborators, DCW invites dancers and choreographers to experience choreography as a shared practice — one that values autonomy, collaboration, and experimentation.
DCW is aiming to spread the word regarding an alternative manner of viewing the dancer’s place and role in the overall frame-work of dance making. It will do so by sharing tools, processes and and overall vision which redefines the role of dancers, how choreography is made and how it can become an artistic and social driver for a much needed change.
DCW operates without a fixed location, moving between cities and hosting partners, with the aim of creating local hubs for exchange and practice. Each session becomes a temporary creative space shaped by its participants and their experience within the Decentralized Choreography methodology.
DCW’s mission is simple: to share the idea of Decentralized Choreography, making it an accessible practice to as many dance makers as possible, and to build a living network of artists who learn from and inspire each other.
